New Students The Opportunity Plan, Inc. provides student loans and scholarships to help college students pay their expenses each semester. This website contains specific information about how to apply for the loans and scholarships and who is eligible for these funds.
Student loan applications are accepted throughout the year. Applicants are encouraged to submit their paperwork one month prior to the time when funds are needed if possible.
The priority deadline for scholarship applications is April 1 of each year. Applications are accepted after this date but a majority of funds are awarded to those students who meet the April 1 deadline date. Geographic considerations A majority of the funds available to students through the Opportunity Plan program have been contributed by donors from the panhandle and south plains areas of Texas. Students from these areas therefore receive primary consideration for the funds.
Students who are not from the panhandle or south plains areas of Texas but who are attending a college or university within this geographic area are placed in the second priority category of applicants.
Students from areas of Texas outside the panhandle and south plains regions attending a college or university outside the region but within the state of Texas are placed in the third priority category of applicants.
Donor selection Donors always have the final word regarding the selection of students who will benefit from the donor's loan or scholarship division. Donor selection always takes precedence over the guidelines mentioned above.
