Payments on OPI student loans are deferred as long as the borrower is a full-time student. Payments begin 90 days following the borrowers’ graduation or the end of his/her full-time enrollment.
Borrowers will receive a letter from OPI at least a month prior to the first payment being due notifying them of when payments are scheduled to begin and when interest will begin accruing. Borrowers will receive a monthly statement around the 20th of each month, and payment on the account is due by the 10th of the following month.
OPI accepts payments by check, cash, money order and via online payment. Payments should be mailed to P.O. Box 1035, Canyon, Texas 79015 or may be delivered to the OPI office at 504 24th Street in Canyon during business hours.
We understand that sometimes circumstances occur that make it difficult to make scheduled payments in the required amount. The OPI staff is willing to work with you to keep your account current. Call (806) 655-2528 or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) us to visit about those special circumstances.
It is also possible to defer payments in certain situations, such as returning to school on a full-time basis. In order to have your account considered for deferment, complete the deferment application and return it to OPI for consideration.
